Yup, I got it too. When I have Mail turned off it happens much less frequently. But, it does still occur...Safari seems to be the other party (and who knows what else).

I'm on a brand new Macbook Pro.

Aside from hoping that this is resolved with 10.6.3...has anybody any further insight into this problem and other remedies for it?

It could be a hard drive going bad or RAM going bad, but before you assume one of those, it might be better to check the easy things.

Have you run Console to see if the OS is posting any error messages?

Have you repaired permissions with Disk Utility?

Have you validated your fonts with Font Book?

Can you test your internet connection? Maybe send a tweet when Safari or Mail are beachballing?

Run Safari and Mail with Activity Monitor active and see if any processes are eating up processor time.

Can try the Extended Hardware Test (press and hold d key on startup) - will take a while, but can check the hard drive a little more.

Can sympathise as there seems to be a percentage having beachballing without some reason.

After three permissions repair, a log out/login and one reboot it seems to be solved.

I did upgrade Flash (from 10.0.23 to 10.0.45) as that version was insecure.

I think I jumped the gun thinking I was having the same problem as many others...luckily it appears to not be the case. There is hope for others who have the beach ball-itis...

Thanks for the advice guys (I did try all of it, too).

;)
