10.6 Fan Issue

Hey guys. Just upgraded to 10.6.8 on a black macbook.

Now, my fans are spinning at max speed all the time. (obv not a great thing for battery life / hardware life / noise). They start at max speed the instant the computer is turned on or is opened from sleeping.

Do all you smart folks know any way to fix this? Please!

(Of note, I've done the SMC reset several times, and have thrown away the dock library file/restarted).

Check Activity Monitor for anything unusual. Sometimes it can be a printer that's not connected trying to print or Mail trying to do something it can't.

Hey. Checked activity monitor, nothing going on. Mail/printers are closed and inactive. Any other suggestions?

Just to be sure...you're currently connected to every printer that is in your list and you've check them all to see if anything is in the queue?

Mail and printers don't have to be "open" to cause a problem.

Yea, nothing in the print que. I just got 10.6 (updated to 10.6.8) yesterday, and the super fans started immediately.

They literally turn on full blast the instant my computer is opened from sleep or first is turned on.



Is this a common thing with 10.6.8?
