10.7.3 Fails to installs

This is only my second day with my mac. I tried to run the system update and the individual apps installed no problem but the 10.7.3 combo update downloads fine but fails to install. Any ideas on how to remedy this? Im new to apple computers so I do not know how to approach this.

Well it installed today. Only difference this attempt was that I was connected to a power source vs. battery power.

All Mac laptops complain and sit there if you try to run software update while you are not connected to a power source. There is a very good reason for this - you don't want to power down in the middle of install - you will wind up with an unbootable mess. IIRC, you can tell it to go ahead, but it's at your own risk.
