10.8.2 broken notifications?

Installed 10.8.2 this morning on my Retina MBP, i've just realised i haven't had a single notification today.. a friend has just text me from his iphone and nothing popped up in iMessages either.

I've been getting texts, emails, facebook updates, tweets.. but no notifications, nothing in imessages.

I've checked settings and everything looks in order.. any suggestions?
