Reminds me of that young girl that had her arm bit off by a shark and is still surfing regardless. These are some tough kids.

Not really "courage", but an extraordinary physical response due to a release of adrenalin.
You can do what many would call incredible feats of strength when when you get that "fly or fight" response.

As more details have come out we've learned that she didn't really "pry" the jaws of the alligator open. The news report I heard stated that she was at an animal show recently and the experts talked about how the best way to defend against an alligator if ever bitten is to stick your fingers in its nostrils. She did exactly that and the beast let go of her. It was neat to hear her tell the story of what happened. She is certainly a smart little girl.

That's a very good thing to know.

I'll try to remember that the next time a pit bull locks its jaws on my leg.
Pitbulls aren't alligators. Sticking your fingers in its nostrils will probably be a horrible idea. Also, Pitbulls don't "lock" their jaws. They just have a powerful bite, although there are 6-7 other dog breeds with stronger bites.
