Uni is starting in just over a month. Should I hold out? When is the next revision likely to be?
I don't see how much an iX core will improve the current 13". I would venture and guess they chose not to use the i3 or i5 (for the 2.66ghz model at least) possibly due to the decrease in overall battery life.. The 15" and 17" have 1-2 hour less battery cycle.
i doubt they will move to an i series in the 13"/air/mini until either intel's graphics improve or the lawsuit between intel and nvidia settles. i cant see apple degrading GPU performance exponentially in order to increase processor performance by a small amount.
I could be naive, but my guess is the biggest hurdle is cooling. We all know our macs can run pretty warm, and a i# processor is pretty powerful. I think when cooling can be better addressed, then they may upgrade processors.
*shrugs*
The reason there has never been discrete graphics in the 13" line is because of space and cooling.
My dream Mac is a 13" MacBook Pro in antiglare (silver bezel too..), Core i5, discrete graphics (AMD... or ATI, whatever they are called now) and no optical drive so all this power can be crammed in.
1280x800 resolution will do me fine..
