Can I get rid of the Ping from iTunes?

When I right click Ping in iTunes it only gives me the option to "open in new window".

I'd like to get rid of it all together. I don't care what friends are listening to nor do I care what artists are up to. This feature is completely useless.

How about something useful like offering Apple Lossless or give me a way to download music as it's meant to be heard.

Did you look in Preferences? I'm not going to iTunes 10, but in 9, you can look in Preferences > General to check which things you want to show. Perhaps Ping can be unchecked.

If you disable the iTunes store in parental controls then it gets rid of Ping from the list. But that's the only way to not have it listed that I know of.

Yes, but it doesn't allow to you to NOT show it like other selections.
