With iOS 4.1 bringing back field test mode, we can finally have a better sense of the effect touching the iPhone's "magic spot" does to our reception.

So what results do you people get when you cover the antenna?( all iPhone's invited, not just the 4).

I would like to try this out when I upgrade later today when I get home. How do you get to field test mode?

Here are my results on EDGE.

Now what is odd is I also repeated my 3G test. I am seeing better results. Maybe I am connected to a different tower this time around( same location)?

Getting about 15-20 drop with death grip, and it's slightly less with the bumper on. Curious as to what the results would be with a 3GS.

I am getting about a 5 db drop. I believe this test is only showing the RECEIVING signal, not the transmitting signal. That is why touching the death spot with just one finger will stop all outbound transmission until the finger is released while barely changing the db level.
