Hey guys,

I was just wondering when does apple usually do the laptop refresh with new hardware etc?

I am asking because my current macbook, is causing me issues and I don't want to buy a MBP now if the laptops are going to be refreshed in a few months

i know im looking at that right now but what im wondering is if anyone has heard any rumors or anything like that regarding the newer line up

Generally there's an update after christmas, sometimes in January, sometimes as late as March. Most likely, (I'm 85% certain) there won't be anything before then.

alright well do you guys think i should wait it out or?

If you need one, buy it. If you can wait, then wait. I bought my first MBP two weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. My old Compaq P4 battery died and I had a sudden need for a new laptop.

Waiting for this next refresh to pick up a new mbp.

Can't wait to get a unibody :)

Well the thing is im back in school the first week of january and i need my mac for then, hopefully my macbook gets fixed :)

My only thinking is that we may see a 13" MBP refresh. Its still a C2D based laptop. Perhaps they'll throw an i5 (doubtful) or an i3 instead.

hmm thanks for the info guys, ill wait till i find out what the issue is with my laptop before making my decision :)

according to the buyers guide we should expect an update within 30 days, but this means an update at the beginning of november with a consequentialy break in the 8 months update pattern feb-oct.

I think we have to wait until jenuary, even though i'm afraid we won't have any apple laptop with sandy bridge in this update cycle.

just my 2 cents.
cheers!

Don't you find it weird? Apple kind of has its hands tied and will have to go for the Sandy Bridge (what other options do they have?) However, that'd also mean two big updates in a row...

The i3 is crap.

For $1200- it should have an i5.

Try to find a Windows laptop that sells for $900 and has an i3.

I was at Sam's Club this weekend and they are selling a 17" HP Laptop with a 2.53GHz i5 processor for $999. They were actually on backorder because they had sold so many of them. You can't even buy a 17" Apple laptop with an i5 for under $2k.

No point in waiting. Waiting games are over in these technology generations.

More likely, near Christmas is a minor upgrade option under the Custom (CTO) online purchase only. Additional choice of CPU +pay more. New SSD +pay more.

That's what's making me mad. I have $1800 to play with and I want a decent MacBook Pro.

GO MAKE YOUR PURCHASE NOW. BE HAPPY! I just got mine.. for a week...
