ok im stumped here guys, i have a rev a 12inch powerbook, 60 gig harddrive, standard ram (i know but i survive), airport
anyways, so i leave for work for the day, i have ichat open and maybe ical, this is normal procedure for me, and probably most of you, to leave your computer run all day and let the display and harddrive sleep and whatnot
i come home, and nothing, display wont wake up or anything, no big deal i just do a hard reset then, then it wont restart, and i remember that there is a cd in the drive, i finally get that ejected and i can get to the apple logo, but no further
i pop in the hardware test cd, i thought my harddrive crashed or something, and i didnt extend applecare, (next time i definately will for a laptop) but the test found nothing wrong with anything
so i put the install cds in for Panther, i figured i would try an archive install, i try to open disk util, and the harddrive doesnt even show and it locks up, i try to just go through with the install, freezes up
i try just booting it, no good
so im thinking my harddrive failed, its the only thing i could think of, and so im looking at my book trying to figure out how hard it will be to pop a new drive in there......after i take out the battery and such i think to myself why not try it again without the batt?
sure enough it started up.....now i dont know if its the batter or another problem, i know that if the harddrive failed i would have gotten something with the hardware test and that OS X would have given me the flashing folder with an exclamation mark
what do you all make of this? i know im going to back up my stuff tomorrow not for sure, but have any ideas what the problem could be?
