Now that we've upgraded the forum software (see announcement), users may now leave messages on each other profile pages.

When you are viewing another user's profile page, you will usually see a Visitor Messages tab. If you don't see it, the user has turned off that option in their profile privacy settings.

Leaving a message is like making a forum post. Type the text, use the icons for markup (bold, colors, links, etc.) and click Post Message. Or click the Go Advanced button for more formatting options and a chance to preview your message.

You can post a message in your own profile if you want to offer a welcome.

Netiquette

Use visitor comments for friendly or at least businesslike messages. It is not the place to start arguments or make negative comments about other users. It's their profile page and you are a guest there.

If you see inappropriate visitor messages on your own profile page or that of someone else, use the Report link to report the problem to the moderators.

Feedback

Visitor messages are new for MacRumors and if there are bugs, glitches, or problems with feature please let us know and be patient while we try to smooth things out.

Your comments and suggestions about the visitor message feature are welcome.
