I've tried to search info on the topic, but only found miscellanous data about kernel panics and data corruption.
Does a card exist which is reliable, fast, not über expensive and supports:
1. hot swap
2. booting from external hdd
3. delivers SMART data from hdd
?
Or should it just be declared that "eSata never worked fine in MBP's and should just be forgotten" and move to usb3?
Ditch all eSata enclosures I've been using with MP or use them with slow usb2 or buy new usb3 enclosures?

Anybody have any experience with LaCie's cards?
There seems to be two cards available: 130974
http://www.lacie.com/fi/products/product.htm?pid=11454
or 130783
http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?pid=11033
and here:
http://www.lacie.com/fi/products/product.htm?pid=11033

The first one does not seem to be in LaCie's webshop and the pricing of the latter is pretty strange $39 in US and €60(ex.VAT) in Finland & €55(ex.VAT) in Germany.

Can't find a special cable for "LaCie eSATA/USB 2-in-1 Card" which would use
eSata for data and usb for power...
