Camera - green blotches and pink discolouration? (SURVEY)

Hi guys,
I am on my 3rd iPhone now and the previous 2 have both suffered with the Camera discolouration issue. Even the new one i just got last night suffers from the discolouration issue.

I then decided to go ahead and check the phones of a couple of other people I know who have iPhones and they also have green blotches in the centre of the picture.

I have checked 3 other iphones besides the 3 I've gotten myself.
Out of the total 6, 4 have been the 32GB and 2 have been the 16GB.

I'm adding a poll to this Thread to see how many people are also experiencing the issue.

To test your camera try taking a picture of a white sheet of paper with sufficient amount of light. Do no use the flash of the camera and do not use HDR.

Also, I would love to hear form 4.2 users too. Maybe Apple was able to fix the issue via software?



P.S. I know this issue has been discussed before, but I was just trying to get some numbers and decide if I should continue exchanging my phone till I get one that works, so just give up.
 
My iPhone 4 hasn't been suffering form any of these issues. Mine never had the "piss stain" either. Just has a minor issue with the signal when it's out of a case.

Doesn't seem like there are too many people that are having the issue....


Either that, or people just don't care.... I guess being a photography freak, i'm a bit more sensitive to this issue.
 
Once I faced a ink kind of spot on the screen, which sometime increase and decrease sometimes BUT never had any issue with camera, perhaps I click images less :p
 
Okay so i tested out the front camera too and seems to have the same issue.

I'm starting to think it's a software issue.


Would love to hear from people who have updated to 4.2!!
 
So I guess this isn't really an issue for anyone....?

Or should I add a picture for people to compare to???

I guess. When the Dev-Team updates their PwnageTool and I can go to 4.2, I'll let you know with my iPhone.

I doubt I'll have any issues as I haven't with the previous iOS updates. My iPhone didn't have issues with the Proximity Sensor either:cool:

Yeah I haven't had any of the other issues either.
Just this camera issue... Even thought the survery respondants are few, it seems like the ones that are replying do have issues.

I should go into the 4.2 Thread and try to get some answers.
 
Took a photo in good light, and of a white wall without HDR on, and flash switched off.

Now I'm colourblind, seriously, and I can see green and pink tints in my photo above, anyone else?

I see the colour distortion in yours too. Not as bad as the one I posted but it's there. It's inverted for you. You have pink in the center and green on the outside.


It's terrible that so many units have this issue and no one's said anything or done anything about it...
 
I can't see that I have noticed this in any of my photos, or videos that I have shot so far. Will find a pure white, and good light and take another shot for comparison, and add it here once done. I'm kind of annoyed, but at the same time, not too bothered about it.
 
Just an FYI, there is an app out there that supposedly "fixes" this issue. Has something to do with white balance with higher megapixel cameras using small lenses and the image sensor blah blah blah. Basically, it is just software calibration that needs to be done.

Any yes, I have the issue, but only under fluorescent lighting.

What you said makes a lot of sense. It must be software related because i noticed the same issue with the front camera.

I was really hoping that 4.2 would have fixed this issue but you guys confirmed it for me that it does NOT.

I guess we will have to create a bit of stink about it before Apple fixes this issue.
 
So I did some tests. The lighting definitely makes a HUGE difference.

Outside in natural lighting the shots have less of the issue.

Plus the issue really seems to stand out when you take a picture of a plain, flat, single colour object.
