So I'm interested in building my arsenal of Macbook servicing tools and I'm interested in finding out what is the best brand. I would imagine that tools are rather generic and brand not being an area of consideration. I just want to make sure I buy high quality tools for a high quality machine.

I was looking at the "al a carte" tools from ifixit and powerbookmedic. Seem inexpensive, but I probably wouldn't ever imagine spending more than five dollars for a screw driver anyway... Oh and with a coupon code, I can place 4 or 5 consecutive orders and get each tool for free and only pay shipping/handling ;)

I bought 2 tools from kobalt at www.lowes.com for about 5 dollars each. One tool has 4 phillip and 4 flathead screwdrivers and the other has 8 torx drivers. They all fit in their respective handles so they are small. Each tool has the proper sizes that my 13" mbp needs to change hd and change memory.

I find them to be well made and of good steel. Should last me a lifetime.

I really appreciate that suggestion! I will definitely look into those! =)

... and made in China. Not sure if that matters to the OP. Some of Kobalt's tools are decent quality. I wouldn't call most of them great though. It's not going to match the quality of Craftsman or Snap-On.

How about these?

Cobalt and other lame budget brands are fun and all.

But if you are looking for Robust high level tools, WIHA is all there is to it.

I agree. You don't need anything too heavy duty as you don't need that much torque. Great value for something that looks to be good quality.

quality is great, the long flexible thing is a life saver when taking apart older machines. only thing that bothers me is the markings on the blue things the bits sit in never seems to dry, had mine for a year and its still sticky.
