Imagine this. With SSD and no optical drive, the MBP could get even thinner, possible down to half an inch. Keeping the current design, make the screen rotatable like a tablet, that can be flipped and closed upside down with the screen out. iOS is less than a Gig, and could be loaded when the MBP is flipped into this manner. It would be like an iPad, but a tad heavier and thicker, but flip back to a usable laptop easily.

I guess this would be more of a MacBook Air thing since that would work better.

Call it PadBook?

Yes this picture is ugly but you get the idea

You would also have to drop the ethernet if you want to go thinner. Firewire800 plug is also pretty big. And there is already a company that will stick a touchscreen on your mbp if you got the cash. I dont see why Apple would do this when they have the iPad, Macbook line and the Macbook Pro line... How many more options do you need, seriously?

The problem is that you need a stylus and Jobs hates those.

Also OSX's UI is not geared towards a tablet. Just look at how well tablets running a full version of windows have fared.

I think apple's approach is the best.

woh blast from the past, these were all over speculating about what the ipad would be
