As far as I can see YouTube now supports 1080p60 HD, so why when I upload a clip straight from my phone using the YouTube app does it only upload as 720p60 HD?

Uploaded this yesterday direct from my iPhone 6 and as you can see the max quality is 720p60 HD

Use the YouTube Capture app. It's the only way to ensure uploads stay full res. It's also far faster and more reliable; I've had the built in share tab take five minutes to upload a video, then fail at the last minute. Capture can resume uploads.

Apple's built in share tab scales down to 720p and reduces the quality even further to boot. It's squarely in the "useless" category.

Ahh OK, I'll try uploading direct from the official YouTube app rather than apples share tab maybe that'll work. If not I'll have to try a third party app.

Not yet no, is there no way of uploading 1080p60 using just the iPhone and the official YouTube app?

you'll have to use your PC i don't the app can, however i did uploaded 60fps video with the slopro app through the vimeo app and it uploaded just fine in 60fps.

Well that's just silly if you can't do it direct from the phone. My very old now Galaxy S2 Android does it just fine.
