1080p movies and maybe above does it handle it ?

i am thinking of getting a the new macbook but i am most often going to watch movies on it and i wonder if the processor will handle it without hickups mostly 1080p movies or maybe more if it can handle it , and can it handle 1080p to apple tv on a tv flawless?

Sure.

Speedwise it is comparable to a Apple MacBook Pro "Core i5" 2.3 13" Early 2011.

I occasionally set the display resolution to 1920x1200 just to play 1080p MKV movies with Mac Blu-ray Player (see a thread on this forum on how to enable 1920x1200). Sound quality is superb. Video playback is smooth. It takes up to 80% of battery juice to watch a 2-hour movie though.
