I had a 40 minute video and using QuickTime Pro, I cut out a 5:19 segment and saved it as a self-contained video. (From WMV to MOV)

Original Video Specs:
Audio:
Codec - Windows Media Audio 2 (WMA2)
Channels - Stereo
Sample Rate - 44100 Hz
Bits per Sample - 16

Video:
Codec - Windows Media Video VC1 (WVC1)
Resolution - 1920 x 1080
Frame Rate - 29.970088

The original WMV video plays choppy in QuickTime and Quick Look, but fine in VLC and Plex. The saved 5:19 MOV file is choppy in QuickTime and Quick Look, VLC doesn't load it, and Plex crashes while loading it up.

Have I done something wrong? Are there some other (better) media players out there or is there a plugin that will fix this?

Thanks.

I'm not a video expert, but Quicktime is a container for various codecs. Perhaps when you exported the video you saved it using a format that requires very high CPU or one that isn't supported in those other players.

When you export video in Quicktime you should be able to select the codec you want.
