10GBe connection for NAS: how to?

If this is the wrong forum for this question, please let me know!

I have a Mac Pro 7,2 connected to a 1GBe LAN. I want to use the other ethernet port on the Mac to connect directly to a Synology NAS which also has a 10GBe port.

So far, I can't seem to make it work completely - the closest I can get is for it to be visible on the desktop, but can't access it with the DSM (Synology's NAS manager) through a browser.

I have given the NAS a fixed ip which mostly seems to work, but...

Are there settings I can apply in the Preferences>Networking, or is there something else I need to do to make this work fully?

You'll need to make sure that second ethernet interface on the Mac Pro has an IP on the same subnet as the one on the Synology device. This guide should cover it: https://gizarena.com/connect-synology-nas-directly-to-pc-over-ethernet/
