Trying to decide between the 10th gen 13-inch Pro with 32gb RAM 1tb or the 16-inch i7 1tb 16gb of RAM. Currently have the 2016 "esc" version with an i7 6660u and the performance has become a hinderance, keyboard woes, and high RAM usage. Does anyone here have the 13-inch 10th gen intel Pro and have had good experience in terms of performance? The only thing is I do utilize FCPx and DaVinci Resolve somewhat, but for mostly 1080p up to light 4k editiing. The 16 inch seems nice, but when mobile is it that big of an annoyance, eg taking out and typing a quick email, doing something quickly while holding in one hand (something I do common on the 13).

I know the best thing to do is wait and see what Apple releases for their own "silicon" ARM platform, but use Bootcamp somewhat and loosing the ability to use Win10 would be a bit of a headache personally. Another concern is if Apple releases something like the a14z it would replace the 13-inch with much better performance, but is armv8 with v9 coming out early next year in theory having a shorter support cycle... maybe even comparable to the late stage Intel macs.

Any insight would be appreciated

Support cycle of the first gen ARM Mac requires too much speculation. I'd just assume the average OS support life of seven years plus two of security patches. You can look at Apple's history with new models. If you go by that the first gen gets a shorter support life than later generations on a new architecture. That happened with 68K, PowerPC and Intel. But how many years are you going to wait to get a new computer because of what might be?

Haven't used the 16". I use a 13" and have a 15.6" Windows laptop about the size of the MBP 16. I can definitely say it is not nearly so convenient to whip out and use. Defintely not one handed. Even in a lap it is cumbersome. That size pretty much needs to be used on a desk, counter, table, &c. At least comfortably. Although I'd never use my laptop one handed.

The new 13" will be faster in all tasks than your old 13". As single through quad threaded speeds are faster. The biggest increase will be in video editing. You'll get a big boost there with double the cores. While the 16" is faster. Based on how you use your computer and described uses. I think you'll be happier with the 13".
