So i may have missed it, while reading the update features , but did Airplay 2 allow full lossless ALAC and FLAC to be streamed now from iPhone/ipad/mac to a device such as the Apple TV 4k?
Airplay has always been lossless, using ALAC-compressed 44.1kHz/16bit PCM. If that's what you feed it, then you'll get bit-perfect output. Although in the case of Apple TV there might be some re-sampling going on.
I see, yeah, not sure whether anything's changed on that front, although I doubt it. Don't have any AirPlay 2 devices to test with either. Maybe someone could check using Bonjeff how the devices advertise themselves.
