This was a hard decision, but i use my iPad about 20 minutes a day. hardly anything productive. The best thing about my ipad (other than browsing the web on it) was the battery life. I'm doing a test on my Ipad before i sell it to my co-worker for 500. But i'm running an entire season of 30 rock using the divx player and its just chugging alot. its ridiculous. This would be great if i'm on a plane.

the MBA would probably get 3 hours before it dies. But ugh, damn you MBA!!!! you just are better girl.

Yeah I sold my iPad as well... no looking back I love that damn little thing!

I was in the same shoes a couple a days ago... Was thinking of selling my MBP 13 2.53 4gb ram and 128gb ssd ocz... To get a the either the 11 or 13 inch... I ended up keeping my MBP and just added a iPad 32 gbwifi to my collection and I'm super happy... The iPad is really cool... If u don't need to do any Photoshop or aperute stuff I would say stick to the iPad... Other than that in order to really use the MBA for editing stuff u have to get the maxed 13 inch... And for that money u can pick up a 13 MBPor 15 inch...

Got a 13" Ultimate, sold my 15" i7 MBP tonight, and am selling my iPad at work on Monday. Sad to see the iPad go, but after the Air, I rarely use it. :(

Having said that, switching to the Air cost me ~-$900. :)

my iPad's battery is so good and it can go 30 days on a single charge, but i sold it to get the 11" MBA.

the iPad battery was so great for me because it's barely used and was collecting dust on my desk. now my MBA can last only 6-7 hours on a single charge, but i use it everyday :D

I haven't even bought an iPad for myself yet, but I know when I get the urge for an ultra-portable computing device I'll go for the MBA 11."

I did get an iPad for my wife, and she loves it, but for me...waiting for the MBA 11's to hit the Apple Online Store refurb list.

I wish I could just sell my iPad like that! Unfortunately, I do not have the willpower to let this one go. I am going to sell my MacBook to buy an 11" MBA. I hope I made the right decision keeping it. I actually do use it for school and random browsing but I don't feel like I use it enough for what I paid for :(

MBA air still doesn't have 10 hours of battery life like iPad.

As a e- reader, I will not give up my iPad. Also, it is still great device. However, I will not get iPad 2 for sure.

i enjoy reading books with iBooks app on the iPhone 4 more than the iPad, the iPad screen looks blurry and it's heavy enough to hold it in one hand.

i really enjoy reading iBooks with my iPhone 4 with retina display, it's so easy on eyes and with rotation lock, i can read it while laying on bed with my side head on the pillow. it's so nice :p

Good for you. My iPhone 4 is sitting and doing nothing. I use iPad to read and web surfing. I don't understand why people crying out loud about retina displaymfor iPad. Ipad is better for reading and browsing for me and it will be for a long time.

suspect those that can so easily give up the iPad probably didn't really need one or could have been better served with a netbook in the first place. imo the iPad's form defines many of it's functional benefits, and if you aren't realizing them then the ipad probably wasn't the right purchase to begin with.

don't think i could ever give up my ipad for just consuming the web or any other media. the combination of battery life, form factor, and interface offers me a different experience than what i can get with any mba or even a leading smart phone.

i wouldn't be so quick to sell your ipads if you already have one. think there are plenty of use cases for it where it outshines the mba...

any device using iOS is effectively useless for any sort of production environment.

full OS and proper keys win every time.

I get to keep them both, but I've got the 13" MBA. They both have their values to me and uses.
The iPad is my best GPS system ever, my most advanced bible, use it for my sermons, TV guide, I have it with me on the go when I travel so getting info is easy while I'm walking.
No, I wouldn't want to be without my iPad. To me they're great companions. :D

Touch screen

The killer feature of the iPad for me is the touch screen.

Makes it a much better 'consumption' device: much as the keyboard and trackpad makes any laptop a better development/creative device.

yes the touch screen is a dream to browse sites, but it's sometimes a pain to write blog post or reply forum's thread with the ipad.

Big rumor is Ipad 2 will have retina display, face time and it can even make your breakfast :D

Why do you even have an iPhone 4 if it sits and does nothing? The purpose of having an iPhone is still use it as a PHONE and to be able to use it as a mini computing device while on the go. Do you leave your iPhone at home and instead travel all the time with your big ass iPad which can't make/receive calls?

Personally, I loved my iPad until the iPhone 4 came out with retina display and ever since I've felt the resolution on my iPad was total crap comparatively and thus I've now sold the thing. I think whenever the day comes an iPad with retina display is released you may find yourself eating some crow.

The iPhone is sweet for some apps, facetime, and off course a phone.
But the iPad is another category and has different uses and different apps that are great specific for it.
I carry the iPad almost everywhere with me, hahaha bought a small shoulder bag for it.

Dear god....
Listen to itself. U are saying iPhone is good for reading compare to iPad. 3.5 inch vs 9.7 for reading a book and magazine. All your justification is about retina display. iPad with retina display? Yea right. So my iPad will have more pixels than my MacBook pro 17 inch. Sure that sounds great. Keep ur hopes up.
