11 or 12.9 with external monitor

Have been inclined to go with the 12.9, but am now wondering whether the aspect ratio of the 11-inch would scale better if connected to an external USB-C 4K monitor like the 21-inch LG UltraFine so that it would fill the screen more with less black area at the sides? (I’m aware that connecting any iPad to an external monitor has its limitations, but I have some uses. And I own the monitor already.)
