Ever since I upgraded from my XS Max, my 11 Pro Max will not keep an app running in the background. For example: I'm playing a game and switch to messages to send a quick text. I switch back to my game and it has reloaded. There are no other apps running in the background and messages doesn't take up much memory. Has anyone else had this issue? I've had every iPhone since the beginning and have never had this issue.

On my iPhone Xs running ios 13.1, that game auto-pauses when I switch to iMessage, then I can press the little play symbol to unpause the previous game. That isn't the same thing you're seeing?

That's what it used to do. Now, it completely reloads the game, like you're launching it for the first time.

Tell it to all the many people saying iOS was so efficient it could run with 4GB RAM despite 8GB costing just a few cents more for Apple

yes because that’s the issue here. Not a corrupt app, or background app refresh turned off, or something else. It’s the memory. Period, the end. You heard here first folks!
