Hello. I am using a 11PM. A few days ago I was browsing eBay and there was a BIN from a legit seller for a 256 gb 13PM for 600. I bought it because I wanted a better camera and thought I would sell my 11 PM for about 450-500 (I am a long term eBay seller). So about 100 dollars out of pocket.

Now I am having a bit of buyers remorse. Should I go for a 14PM? I am tempted by the camera and emergency satellite calling. Even at at Apple I can trade 13 for 720. So I would end up being about 600 out of pocket.

Is the 14 worth an extra 500?

Thank you for indulging my obsession.

You can watch this and decide if it’s worth it:

There are lots of places that compare the features of the different phone, including on Macrumors and the ones Tsepz shares above.

But only you can answer the 'worth it' question. What does an extra $500 mean to you? If it's a smallish part of your disposable income and you enjoy new technology - sure. If money is tight, don't bother, the changes are mostly incremental.

The 14 is a hot mess right now so I would stay away regardless.
That's hasn't been my experience at all. I've had lots of phone changes and iOS upgrades over the years, and switching to iOS 16/14 Pro Max has been as smooth and bug free as any I can remember.

Others experiences may vary - it's always hard to tell how widespread any problems are simply by looking at forum posts.

I went from the 11 pro max to the 14 pro max. Just received it yesterday. Yes, it’s snappier in use and the camera is better but I can’t help feeling a bit underwhelmed for the money.

Thanks all. 500 for me is a lot but 100 is not noticeable money wise. Thought 15pm would be ok to wait for. I’ll watch the videos. The only thing I care about really is the camera but the camera in the 13 is supposed to be quite an upgrade from the 11 too.

Can’t go back in time to take better pictures.

Which is why you gets the best offered at the moment. For family I shoot 48mp which is compressed to 15mb. For other stuff like taking a photo of where my car is in a parking lot I just use the usual camera at 12mp.

Wait for the 15 and when released rumours of a 16 - better to just get what you can have in hand or you end up will all your memories in lower rez than they need be…

My 14 Pro has been faultless! You'll always read about issues on a dedicated forum, largely though there are no widespread issues. The camera if you are prepared to use ProRaw and edit them to get the most from the 48MP sensor, or use a third party app like Halide is a big step up from the 13 Pro models and worth the extra money IMO.

That is what I do, use Halide and shoot in 48mp as a jpg and this is about 15mb. From the lock screen Halide gives you many widgets and I just hit 1X and shoot. But this may not be for everyone. I hated spending the one time fee for Halide but after half a year I forgot about the cost - YMMV.

Yeah, same. The cost isn't great but in the grand scheme of things its a small amount if you're going to make use of it, that's how I see it.
