Two potential reasons for me to upgrade to the 14 Pro
1. Face ID with mask
2. Better camera

I use my iPhone basically only for web browsing, messaging and taking photos. I don’t care about the AOD, dynamic island or faster processor.

I use the main lens and zoom lens a lot for kids pictures and travel photos. I also record tons of videos. I won’t use macro or raw.

Just wondering if the 14 Pro really takes that much better pictures and videos than the 11 Pro?

Bigger sensor can drastically improve low light photos, as well just getting more light into the sensor in general. That alone I think carries more weight than RAW/Cinematic mode/yadayada would do.

To be fair though, during my limited Apple Store experience using demo iPhone, I hardly feel the image quality jump compared to my current iPhone XS Max, even though the detail on 14 Pro is a bit better.

If you like to edit your photos on your computer, then yes.
If, like me, you just take photos for viewing back on your iPhone, or sharing with family/friends via messages, shared albums, or whatsapp, etc, then I wouldn't bother. I would rather wait for a more drastic change to the camera system, such as the periscope lens etc - something I will get more noticeable use out of, before I upgrade my current handset.

This is a very reasonable summary.

I enjoy tinkering with my photos on my iPad and laptop, as well on the phone itself, and I enjoy the extra detail I can pull out, particularly in marginal light conditions like dawn/dusk shots. But it is an incremental change rather than a revolution, and if all you want is photos that are good enough to share with friends, the 11 Pro remains an extremely good camera.

You do get ProMotion as well - opinions on the importance of that vary, but I enjoy it.

Whether or not it is 'worth it' of course depend on your disposable income.

I went from an 11Pro to 14Pro.

Camera upgrade is noticeable when comparing to the 11Pro side by side. Take the same photo on both phones and compare them, and you'll see the difference. I haven't done a tonne of low-light shots yet, so can't comment on that.

Once you switch the 11 off and put it away, you quickly get used to the image quality, unless you switch on Pro-RAW where the difference is bigger. However, I do like the addition of the macro functionality, plus the extra zoom options.

Apart from that, I'd say the things I've most noticed are...

Good
Screen brightness outside is fantastic. Makes a big difference
Battery life is much better (especially as old battery wasn't in top health)
Phone calls on speaker phone much improved, louder and with better mic pickup
Screen / ProMotion is very nice. Watching movies is really nice.

OK
Dynamic Island - Generally it's just ok I find....but that turns to 'good' for certain apps (like a timer)

Bad
Nothing...things are only better (as you'd hope and expect)

I upgraded from an 11 PM. Camera upgrade is very boticably better, screen is big step up, and the “big weight addition” you might have read others complaining about is not even noticeable if your coming from a large phone.
I am very happy with the 14 PM. Have not experienced any cosmetic ot software issues others seem to find (small category).

I came from the 12PM and the 14PM is a pretty big upgrade in camera
I’d agree. Last year I tried out the 13 Pro and honestly didn’t think it was an upgrade. The 3x photos were worse than the 2.5x on my 12PM and it was too big of a jump from 1x to 3x.

I downsized to the 14 Pro and I can tell a huge differenc. 3x photos are clearer and even max zoom I’m amazed at the detail. Plus the intermediate 2x zoom has been great.

If you take lots of videos, ip13p/ip14p are big upgrades over ip11. New iPhone takes incredible videos.

I came from an 11 pro max to the 14 pro max and think it's worth the upgrade, but if you choose to hold on to your 11 pro max for another year, you will be alright.

I had the 14 pro max for two weeks ( as of today) and I think it's a great phone. I have had some minor issues like camera shake, and some pictures in some indoor locations not looking great even in decent lighting. For example, this week I was at a conference for work and took some pics during a few panels in a dim room with stage lights and big screens. Even the RAW pics taken during the conference were kinda lackluster on my phone. But other pics I took indoors and outside look WAY better. So I just assume it was due to me zooming in and dim lighting in the room.

Other than that though, I am very happy with the phone. However, if the rumors of touch id, USB-C, and periscope camera for iPhone 15 are true, I might upgrade again.
