I have a 7 plus. I’m often in rural areas with poor signal. I’ve seen lots of info of the 11 vs the 11 pro reception but never the 11 vs an older device? Should I expect it to be better or worse?

Comparing a max pro to a 6+, the reception is about the same. It doesn't seem to be improved, at least from what I can tell. It may be different in a rural area though.

My wife's original XsMax had terrible low signal performance compared to my 6s+. It also had a few small problems once in a while. The last minor problem was the last straw. She exchanged it for a new XsMax and all problems disappeared, including poor low signal performance. If you get a new phone and it doesn't perform as you expect, exchange it for another. Apple quality control is better than others, but there are still a lot of defective units sold. As I recall a earlier CR survey on laptops, average was 14% defective units while Apple had 7% defective units. I'm not sure how phones compare, but almost 1 in 10 people can expect a problem.
