As the title says. Obviously with the 12 series Apple decided to use the flat sides and thinner bezels to reduce the size of the outside dimensions of the 12 compared to the 11 whilst retaining the same 6.1 inch display. But had Apple reduced the bezels/flat sides but kept the same outside dimensions of the 11 how big a display could have been fit in? Anyone who can work that out?

Bezel from the chassis exterior to the edge of the display active area:
  • iPhone 11 - 5.57mm
  • iPhone 12/Pro - 3.47mm
So the difference is 4.2mm diagonal or 0.17".

So you'd be looking at a 6.22" display.
