I finally upgraded my 5 year old phone to a Verizon 32GB iPhone4.

The Apple app store is loaded with so many Photography apps.

I'm really not intrested in the photo gimicky/editing one either, rather useful reference information apps.

Post me your top 5 you really have used and found helpful.
For ref. I've had my DSLR 1.5 years and have a pretty decent handle on exposure, composition, etc.
(I have 8-10 photography books already)
Still, one can always learn more, so I'm truly open to your suggestions.
I did a search and did not find a thread on this, plus feel this forum is more appropriate than the iPhone forum.

I'd be interested in:
-advanced Aperture 3 or CS5 tips
-tables/charts for manual exposure settings
-tables/charts for flash exposure settings
-other

Here's what I have...

Field Tools - Depth of field calculator
PS Express - Photoshop express
Filterstorm - Photo editor - I use this more on my iPad
MyZenfolio - Native app for interacting with my online Zenfolio galleries
Pic Transfer - For transferring pics between iPhone and iPad

Just downloaded this yesterday based on a Phrasikleia's recommendation...
NDCalc - Exposure compensation calculator when using ND filters

Another one that popped up yesterday that I don't yet have...
The Photographer's Ephemeris - for planning a shoot at a given location based on sunset/sunrise etc.

I got all of these compliments of Phrasikleia:
TPE (The Photographer's Ephemeris), NDclac (helps set the exposure times when using ND filters) and Easy Release (for model release at photo shoots, you can have them sign right on your phone!).

EDIT-I found Easy Release through a google search

NDcalc by nSonic is by far the most useful app I have. It really takes the pain out of using ND filters and bulb mode.

The Photographer's Ephemeris is fantastic, and I use it constantly, but only on my Mac. I prefer to work out those sorts of things in advance, on a large screen and with a fast internet connection.

I also have TPE on my MBP.

thx for quick response, I'm downloading some of them now....gives me reading stuff while at my sons 1.5 hr gymnastics tomorrow......

Don't underestimate the "gimmicky" photo apps - these are some of the apps that made me actually use the camera in my iPhone as a camera:

Instagram
Hipstamatic
Pro HDR (I've got a 3gs so no native HDR for me)
Camera+
Iris (editing)

For reference I like Field Calc and use TPE on the Mac.

In terms of photographic utilities, I use PhotoCalc (DOF, Flash, Solar Calculator, some reference documents), TPE, and I now have NDCalc. I use Camera Genius instead of the built-in camera app.

I have TPE on both my Mac and my iPad, but I still need to learn how to use it correctly. It is much easier to manipulate on the computer, as has been noted by P.

I have an iPad app called Photoverse. It's a daily compilation of photo news and blogs. From reading this so far, I have added the DOF calculator mentioned earlier.

Currently I only have The Photographers Contract Maker on my iPhone 4. Absolutely love it!

Looking to add some fun apps to play around with, like Camera+, etc. Got some good ideas from this thread already!

Is there an app that gives you manual control over the iPhone's camera? I highly doubt that any of the settings are actually editable besides focus, exposure and perhaps shutter speed but it would be interesting if an app was capable of long exposures.

Try Pudding!

It is a Korean app but ok for being free. Search pudding and it should be the first one by kth. Try the motion x4 camera. It is in Korean but you will be able to figure it out. Choose camera, choose film etc.

Not iPhone but droid...

I don't have an iPhone, but my droid apps likely have an iPhone counter-part.

- I use timer for Bulb shooting
- I use "Golden Photo" which lets me plug i na date, and it tells me when the morning and evening golden hours are. I use this any time I am booking an outdoor shoot.

Photopod – to aggregate all my photos from Flickr, Picasa, fb and Twitter on iPhone and share multiple photos at once.
PS Express – to edit my photos with advanced settings
Field Tools – somebody has already talked about this app above
Camera Genius – to shoot photos. I don’t use native iPhone app for that anymore.
