They mentioned Newegg but i don't see Newegg has it yet....where to buy it fast??

Come on...i want it and i want it now....

Post links please.

Cost is a factor, but i'm thinking it will be ok because of competition, which should be fierce.

Don't know though.

Why this drive over the vertex 3? Looking at the two this one seems more expensive and slower. Is there something to this drive I'm overlooking?

It's a bird in the hand. If these show up to buy tomorrow, they have got the jump on OCZ.

we are an impatient lot (Ok I"m an impatient a-lot ) :p

i would take intel over OCZ any time due to great reliability that i have experienced and also heard from fellow users ...

Come on...i need to buy this fast :-D

Isn't the 510 using the Marvell controller instead of the Intel controller? And isn't Marvell the controller in the Crucial drives, which suffer from severe performance degradation? I'd wait for some tests on those before I jump on it. I'm also a little disappointed that Intel isn't updating their X25-E line. I was really hoping to get a cheaper SLC drive..

I have a thread going on here that i'm trying to keep updated on all the latest info. You might be able to find something useful.

Supposedly its a revised version of the controller and intels own custom firmware a review ive read showed some significant differences in terms of performance

idk im waiting for it to hit newegg as well

does anyone know if its added tomorrow what time it should be added?

I don't think Intel is going to get duped by junk controllers.

It's not like some small company trying to save a few green backs.

They were the first out the door in the first place, with their own controller.

But this is all moot cuz i just have to have it NOW.....thanks :D

The EGG does seem to get stuff first (and at the prices).

But the earliest bird will get my worm.....

Same with me i want it in my hands now ... been holdin off on purchasin a ssd a long time decided to plunge in this time and cant wait

And I just got a 120gb OCZ Vertex 2 in my new MBP too. It's soo fast, I'm just wondering if it can really be that much faster...

Boot time into a Windows 7 virtual machine desktop (fully loaded and ready to use) is 7 seconds. 7 seconds!!! o_O

Ha!

Got it. Thanks!

Had an order with Amazon (prime). They still don't have it, but there's another seller there that has them at marked up prices.

note: I've noticed that recently Amazon looks a lot like Ebay. I even think sellers are there from Ebay, and they mark up items WAY beyond reason.

This is very disturbing trend. Some items are marked up 1000%, and they aren't even particularly rare items, just items that Amazon doesn't have at the moment. You also can't tell what's "Amazon', and what's the 'Amazon Marketplace". They are one and the same.

The real issue is that when you look at the item's feedback, it doesn't differentiate the price difference, so for instance, if you see an item that's top rated, you can't tell at what price this highly rated item was actually rated. So you are liable to buy the item at 10 times what it's worth, going on customer satisfaction.

This is wrong, and perhaps even illegal (bait and switch).

They have GOT to fix this. (and while they are at it , they might as well fix the feedback mechanism so that you can only leave feedback if you have actually bought the item)

I buy all my stuff on Amazon, and get great deals. I also do business with Ebay and get (and give) great deals. But Ebay is dangerous, and now Amazon is also dangerous (a jungle ) ;)

It's a dangerous world :D

Are these SSD drives just drop in replacements for the existing hard drives in the MBP?
