Just got a new 2011 i5 Macbook Pro 13". Im noticing that there is considerable amount of backlight bleed on the bottom of the display. Is this normal?

That looks fine. If it really bothers you, go exchange it. However, my old '08 MBP had much, much worse backlight bleeding after a year and a half of use. It was bleeding from 3 edges, and the bleeding would extend in maybe an inch from all 3 of those sides. Watching movies (with darker backgrounds) in dark rooms would make it VERY apparent.

Thanks. With the dock, you can't see it at all (which I keep visible at all times). Loving the laptop otherwise so I think I will just keep it.

Would anyone else with a 13" 2011 MacBook pro be able to post their backlight in the same conditions I did ( lights off, full brightness, black background, no dock)?

Anyone?

My 2010 MBP has identical backlight bleed. It is only visible on the bootup screen (I used bootxchanger to make it black, not grey).

All mbps have to some extent, if you're not happy get it replaced for free
