I treat myself to a new sleeve for my 13" MBP yesterday, arrived today from Cancom (great service 5*).
I always like to have a nice sleeve for whatever laptop I own and set about looking for a 'real' leather number. This is harder than it seems, especially if wanting to keep the budget at least mildly in check. Previously I owned a Toffee leather sleeve (reviewed here: http://www.avforums.com/forums/appl...review-toffee-leather-sleeve-macbook-pro.html).
The sleeve is from Pipetto London and the actual model I have is the Rocker 13". The first thing I noticed when opening the UPS was bag was the smell that only natural leather gived wafting out, this was a good start:grin:.
Well, this thing is made beautifully. The stitching is second to none and looks very straight and of a really high standard. The leather is proper leather, this may sound silly but if you have bought 'real' leather sleeves you will know that nearly everything out there is 'corrected grain', so the pattern of the leather is uniform all over. This however is very natural, so different parts of the sleeve will have more grain where others are smoother etc, looks superb and is lovely to the touch. I get the feeling this thing is going to age, picking up marks and creases etc, which of course proper leather should.
The lining, is a suedette matterial in black. It's lovely and soft and should protect the macbook. A decent amount of padding is between the lining and leather is present. The fit is perfect, enough room to make it easy to use, yet not loose enough for the laptop to be sliding around inside.
There is an inner protector to stop the zip from contacting the laptop, which is slightly awkward as you have to manually pop it over the edge before zipping up. The zip is metal and of very good quality.
So to conclude, I would recommend this sleeve to anyone that is looking for a decent quality sleeve for their macbook/pro. I am hoping it will gain character as it get's used and I am sure it will due to the quality/softness of the beautiful leather.
I would give it a solid 9/10, my only gripe being the zip protector is a little awkward.
