I plan to pick up a 2011 13in macbook pro at the apple store and I am just asking if you can get a price match from another store (or online website) and stack the student discount on top of that. My other question was if I was to buy a macbook pro today and waited 2 months, could I still get the apple protection plan for the student price.

No, you will not get a price match at the apple store. Yes, you can get the student discount.
You can buy apple care anytime before the warrenty expires.:D

Apple doesn't do price matching. You can buy AppleCare anytime during the first year you own your Mac, before the warranty expires.

but can I get the apple care for the student discount price afterward

I'm pretty sure Apple Stores don't price match anyone.

they do...did it for microcenter price...but they will not add student discount on top

wrong....they priced matched my imac and 13" MBP at my local store...matching the savings offered by microcenter nearby...$200 off a 13" base MBP this last December.

I talked to a Sales Associate in my local Futureshop, and he said he has to talk to their Apple CHQ (central headquarters) to confirm the discount and price. I also asked for a HD Anti-Glare screen CTO, so they're checking to do that as well.

I'm supposed to hear from them tomorrow, hopefully all goes well, especially as the manager of the store said this is completely new ground for them (they've never done this before). I'm sitting hear hoping Apple aren't tight asses and decide to match the student discount and give me the custom order.

Apple told me they would match any local brick and mortar, fwiw. They won't match online prices.

Given they set prices.. pretty unlikely any other store offers a significant discount.. and student discount is just a bit less than saving tax.

Yes...thats a good point..its has to be a brick and mortar store and an authorized reseller....of which microcenter is both
