from BB and this thing freaking rocks. For the price and quality of this display there is NO other LED that can compare. Here are the specs for those interested:

At the moment I am currently using it from my mini display port from my new MBP to HDMI. Since the monitor only has one each of HDMI, VGA and DVI inputs and I really want to use the HDMI to connect to my HD Fios Box for TV and am considering getting a MDP to VGA or DVI. For sound I am using the Bose Companion II Series 3 speaker set (best PC speakers IMO). So the question is should I go VGA or DVI? The ASUS monitor has a sound passthrough since it does not come with any built in speakers. What do you guys recommend I do? Thanks

TFT huh?

Does the color change when you view it from different vertical angles? Grays turning green, etc?

I've yet to see a TFT panel that doesn't do this.
 
well DVI does not support audio so just connect your speakers to your computer. But you mentioned you want to connect your tv box through HDMI, which does support audio. In that case connect your computer audio to the screen using the 3.5mm in, and the speakers on the 3.5mm out, then you should get audio from both.

It's the 2011 model of a popular TN model that folks used for gaming. They did raise the response time rating from 2ms to 5ms, but it's still probably a TN.

I thought the lower # the better? Why would they raise the response time? My Dell U3011 is rated at 7ms and I have never had any problems with movies or with Xbox 360 games. They all look great.

Well I doubt it was a conscious decision, probably a side effect of some design change. That being said, those specs are usually BS anyways.

You both make it sound like 1920x1200 on a 24" is subpar compared to industry standards.

That's like saying a 60" 1080p LCD tv has weak resolution @ 1920 x 1080

1920x1200 has been the standard 24" desktop monitor resolution for years.

Your eyes can only discern a certain pixel density at certain viewing distances. 1920x1200 is a reasonable pixel density for the distance you'd be sitting away from your monitor - which is expected to be further away than your laptop.

Are you saying that 60" TVs look sharp? they look fuzzy, at almost any distance. 40" TV should even have a higher resolution unfortunately the whole industry is going 1920x1080 at the moment. I personally prefer watching movies on a big computer monitor then a TV (round 27"-30").

I would take my 2560 X 1600 30" monitor over a 1920 x 1080 60" TV.

Movies are not a 16:10 ratio most are 1.85:1 so even a 16:9 screen would have bars on the top and bottom. In my opinion a 16:9 ratio just seems a bit wide for every day use. Xbox plays at full screen though. And it is great keeping the same ratio as the original 17" screen, everything is just bigger.
 
Although I am sure this is a great monitor...... I did audition the brand new Asus 24" ML249H...... mva panel, LED backlight..... and it was darned good..... It is one of three in their newest series. The 22" and 23" are both ips panels and this one is MVA, price tag for 24" is the exact same as the one you got. I was looking for an alternative to the Apple Cinema Display 24...... the text and color for the ASUS were both pretty darned good but the viewing angle had vertical issues (as all MVA's do). The 23" LED, ips panel for like $220 would be the one to look at......
