There have been other threads about this topic, but I'm sure some are still looking for a solution. I was one of the people who used the double update to go from 10.6.5 to 10.6.7, simply because I had just got my new MacBook Air and that was under the 'Software Update'.

After going to 10.6.7, I noticed a huge loss in gaming performance, as did many others. So, I did the only thing I could do at that point in time.

1) Do a clean install of OS X to 10.6.5.
2) Download 10.6.6 from Apple (http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1343)

After the update to 10.6.6 everything was working perfectly, until this morning I got the screen flickering issue and was forced to download 10.6.7.

3) Optional, but recommended: Backup your data via Time Machine.
4) Download 10.6.7 from Apple (http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1363)

And there you have it. Instead of installing the double-update, simply download each update, individually. I am currently running 10.6.7 with StarCraft 2, Call of Duty 4, World of Warcraft, all playing perfectly.

I just did it and so far so good. On 10.6.7 now and graphics performance seems back to normal. Pain in the ass to go through but yay that it's all done!

It seems like everyone that did the combo update when 10.6.7 came out are that ones that were experiencing problems. As long as you do the updates as they come, then you should be fine.
 
CRAP. I don't want to have to go through all of that to fix it. :/

...but it looks like I have to do so.
 
It's not that bad. Note that if you boot from the recovery USB stick, and install from there, you do *not* need to clean install after formatting. In other words, you can revert back to the version on your recovery stick without deleting your data and settings. This shaves off a lot of hassle.

True, you could always do that. The only reason I did a clean install is because I hadn't before, so I was able to shave off like 3GB of extra stuff I didn't need. Also, because I knew that would completely wipe the drive of everything.
 
i did a fresh install and manual updates to 10.6.7 but performance is still lacking

time machine only backups your documents right?
 
Ironically, Portal 2 refused to even start until 10.6.7 update was installed. After doing it, I played it, and it seems to be working as good as the other Valve's games I tried before. I guess I'm luckily unaffected by this performance decrease, or it's too small to notice with naked eye.

You can always give it a shot and backup your data before installing the update. I was forced to update to 10.6.7 due to flickering issues, but have had zero problems since the update.
 
I haven't tried any games yet, but I did find some issues watching HTML5 videos (stuttering, video playback lagging). You think this gonna fix this?

I might give it a try and test it out.
 
This is the correct method to install 10.6.7 without having affect your video playback or video game performance. I installed it with this method and can play 1080p youtube and World of Warcraft/SC2 just fine.

So I was right about this issue also affecting video playback... Thanks for confirming it!
 
10.6.7 screwed up my video playback too, flash and html 5. I also noticed performance loss in system animations and just overall system slowdown.

I wiped and fresh installed to 10.6.6... want to hear more success stories before i go through this whole time consuming process again.

Just use the 10.6.7 update from apples website as long as you use the non combo update you will be OK
 
I just got back to 10.6.6 and performance turns back to fine:rolleyes:
On 10.6.7 the GUI of OS X got laggy and stuttering -.-

Fine to be back again ;)

The next days I will try again to install 10.6.7, but this time i will use the non-combo-update ;)

Furthermore i noticed that CPU Temp in Idle dropps from 40° degrees (10.6.7) to 36° degrees (10.6.6)

Worked for me

I have a 2011 13 inch MacBook Air that shipped with Mac OS X 10.6.5.
StarCraft 2 ran great on it at 45-60 FPS until I used Software Update to install "Mac OS X Update Combined, Version 10.6.7". With this update, the StarCraft 2 frame rate dropped to 10 fps. I reverted to 10.6.5 and everything was fine again.

After reading post #1 above, I installed 10.6.6, then 10.6.7, using the links provided, and now StarCraft runs great under 10.6.7.

Thanks so much for posting this solution. This problem has been bumming me out for several weeks and it is great to have it resolved. Blizzard's tech support was unable to help me.
 
Anyone notice errors under CONSOLE in ALL MESSAGES while a flash video is running?

I am getting an error with AVAHDGPURendererVP2VP3BoostVP4: AGPMSetBoost code = 0 returned 0xe00002c2 while any video is going in any browser (Firefox, Safari, and Chrome) using Flash on 10.6.7.

Doing a restore now, just wondering if anyone noticed this too.
