Ah yes, it's that time of the year again. Now, I am extremely happy with my current 27" iMac. But if I can get it sold for a good amount of money then I might just step up to one of the new 27" iMacs.

I just want to know how much performance you'll gain by stepping up to the 6770m or 6970m. I've been unable to compare the 5670 in this one with anything out there, I just CANNOT find ANY information or benchmarks out there!

I've used that one before but they always seem to suggest a price that is just too low. Also, it forgets to ask which GPU you have which imo makes a huge difference. I have one of the better GPUs in this one and that should bump up the price a little. I'm not sure I want to sell this iMac for a mere 10.000 sek when it was bought about half a year ago for 17.000 sek.

The 6970M is a big leap from the 6770M (which is a 6550 desktop chip, if I remember correctly) — if you're running a 27" iMac and intend to play games at native res, you really should get the better chip. Both are big leaps from the 5670, which is getting long in the tooth and was never cutting edge to begin with.

PS: Have a look at the Anandtech review for the 6970M's (aka the 6850 desktop chip) performance: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4340/27inch-apple-imac-review-2011

compared to the new mac mini 2011

What would the 5670 compare to the new mac mini 2011 with the AMD Radeon HD 6630M ?

Would this beat the 5670 now ?

I am thinking about getting a new 27" iMac. Is it worth paying the extra $100 for the 2GB GDDR5 version of the AMD Radeon HD 6970M over the 1GB version? What kind of performance increase is there?

I am planning on buying an iMac in the next month, and came here wondering the same thing. I plan on splurging a little with this, since it's my first Mac and want to get something that'll hold for the next 5 years or so, which was the last time I bought a desktop.
