I have an iPhone 4. Currently on version 4.3.2. I've tried restoring/updating my iPhone to 4.3.3 but it won't work. It says "This device isn't eligible for the requested build" On 4.3.2 i have saved my SHSH blobs. Also when i tried updating my friends iPhone to 4.3.3. that was never jailbroken i got the same error. Can i get a video step by step help. or text but in detail. Thanks

Are you absolutely sure you are using the correct firmware update from Apple? Just checking everything. Make sure your hosts file isn't pointing to Saurik's server also.

I'm having the same problem with a 3GS. I downloaded the update through itunes. Trying to do a fresh restore. I've had it jailbroken using Pwnage Tool. I just restored to 4.3.1 using TinyUmbrella fine. It errors out attempting 4.3.3 with TinyUmbrella running. But I just noticed that TinyUmbrella isn't saving my 4.3.3 blob for the 3GS... but it got it fine for my iphone 4.

TinyUmbrellas not grabbing my ipad 1 4.3.3 blob either

"..could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (21)."

You don't need the SHSH blob saved to upgrade to 4.3.3 right now as it's the current build. Just make sure your hosts file is not pointing to the Saurik server. Either uncheck this box in Tiny Umbrella advanced settings or edit your hosts file so it is not pointing to Saurik's server.

Once it's all said and done, you still should grab the 4.3.3 blob while it's available.

Quick and easy? Not so much.

@Altisssimo: can you please post the text of that discussion? Apple discussions have gotten WEIRD and are restricting content - apparently I don't have "permission" to view that link. Thank you!

Ok so I had this problem too. Resolved doing this (Mac OS X Snow Leopard)

1.
-In TinyUmbrella unchecked the option that says "Set hosts to cydia on exit"
-Press Apply Changes
-QUit TinyUmbrella

2.
-In terminal, write this:
Code:
sudo /Applications/TextEdit.app/Contents/MacOS/TextEdit /etc/hosts
-Press Enter
-Delete all lines that reference gs.apple.com
-Save File

3. Restart iTunes and try again.

It worked for me, hope it works for you as well

Re post 10. You don't need to do 1 and 2.

1 Takes care of the problem and will correct the host file once TU is closed.

GOD! I was up ALLLL night trying to get this Iphone4 to restore because it didnt jailbreak correctly. I was sweating bullets!

Looking through tons and tons and programs and answers. YOU! fixed it!
Thanks you soooooo much!!

I'm glad it worked out...it was lucky I found that solution somewhere around on the internet (it took me quite a while as well), hopefully more people having this problem find this thread and fix their phones. Maybe a moderator can write "Solved" in the title so more people come in here?

Hi all,
I've tried everything and everywhere, spent weeks trying to fix it.
My ex's iPhone 3Gs it's dead and can't get it back to life.
Her brother tried to unlock it and upgraded to iPad baseband and now can't restore it at all.
It's bricked at the moment, Firmware 4.2.1 baseband 06.15.00-6.4_M3S2.
I've tried restoring - iTunes 10 returns 'not eligible for restore' error,
tried RedSnow, Pwnage tool, tiny umbrella, iReb and everything else.
Tried with all possible custom 4.2.1 and 4.1 ipsw files, ive got no shsh or anything.
I don't even want to unlock it anymore, just to get it back to 'normal' state where I can use it and upgrade to new software from iTunes etc.
HELP?
cheers!

Did you not read anything about the iPad BB?
You must use a custom firmware. You can not upgrade through iTunes.
I don't understand why people can't be bothered to search first. Google isn't that hard to use.
BTW, don't be one of those ignorant people who use brick incorrectly. Only hardware issues can brick the phone. If you drop your phone into a pool and it no longer works, it's bricked. Software screw ups are recoverable. Hence, no bricking.

You are amazing. Thank you so much. I created an account on this forum just to thank you! It's quite ridiculous how one little modification in the host file can make that much of a difference. I was literally pulling my hair out with the error messages I was getting but everything is perfect now. Thanks again!

None of that is working for me.

Just to be clear:

1. Download TinyUmbrella. Untick that option. Quit.
2. Type the code into Terminal, remove the lines from the file and save it.
3. Start iTunes. Click restore.
