My lower associate left an open job with no verbal or written explanation, it was for a government print job so its kind of important.

This nasty mallrat guy who comes and stands at my counter (I work in a jewelry store) and complains about how bad his life is and how he can't get a job and blah blah blah. It completely ticks me off to listen to people cry poor but make no effort to better themselves. I'm broke too, struggling to make ends meet, but I go to work every day, do the best I can, and trust that if I work hard, things will work out in the end.

Too bad that in your line of work, you can't tell them shaddap. I don't work with customers directly. Not anymore; not after a similar incident. The difference is that I gave emo-boy a hard look and said, "I ain't your mama, your bartender or your shrink. Tell it to someone who gives a damn." I got a written reprimand, but it was worth it.
