There & Back Again
Hey everyone, I had a Scorpio Black 750gb that I pulled from my 2010 15" which I am getting rid of. I put it into my new 2011 13", kernel panic.

Reformat, hold c, hold option, reformat drive, journal drive, no matter what I do I can't make it past the blank grey screen before it panics. I read up on this and found out that because the drive has it's own protection against drops it collides with the MBP's own safety measures, which sucks because it worked in my old 15".

So - does anyone have any good experience with current gen drives? I'm open to 640gb+ sized drive advice.

Thanks!

It won't let me get to that point. I choose 'english' from the menu and then it panics. Thats on a good try....

Put in the old drive. Boot, run Terminal command. Put new drive in.

If that doesn't work, I think you're dealing with a bad drive, not necessarily just the SMS conflict.

So terminal's commands are stored somewhere besides the HDD

yep :) found this out to as i had a problem that i needed to fix with terminal and used 3 different drives before i found out terminal and my mac were not anything to do with my HDD, if you can find an article on google somewhere that will guide you, you can try it through that? thats what i did, sorry im no good with terminal unless im being spoon fed, hope someone comes along with a little more useful information than i could give on terminal commands
