SO! New Macbook Air? Where?

Is it suppose to be out today .. the wait is painful for me .. I live in the UK .. it's 1513hrs now and we're about 8 hrs ahead of you guys . it'll be night when it's on the apple store (if it is today that is) hmmm

It's not today. Probably not this week. Im still holding out myself :D
 
Don't new products get released in the U.S. first? I could be wrong.

It's only 7:15 AM where Apple is right now, so it's still early.
 
Oh and 9to5mac is reporting no new MacBook Airs today.

Only the Back to School promo.
 
The latest rumors regarding the Air refresh point to a late June date. Maybe either the 21st, 22nd, or 28th, 29th.

Who knows.

The Back to School promo doesn't seem to be starting today...

I don't think new air will launch before lion comes out. I expect new air in July.
 
Unless the news comes from Apple I really wouldn't put much faith in any of the "reports" you're reading. Apple has never been quiet about MBA launches so if they haven't said anything, you've probably still got a bit of waiting to do.

The Back-to-School promotion has mentioned the new MBA in the terms and conditions. So this should confirm the imminent release of the new MBA. Perhaps next week?

Where in the BTS Ts and Cs is a new MBA mentioned?
 
In the terms and conditions it says the macbook air is eligible.

It says nothing about a new macbook air, just that the MBA in general is eligible for back to school.

I think that the person who wrote the front page macrumors article is just assuming that a new one is coming. Apple has still said nothing about a new macbook air.

If anyone saw anything different, please tell me.

I think it will. My main reasoning is because Lion is being distributed via the Mac App Store.

That means Apple could essentially released the GM seed next week and launch it on July 1st. They don't create DVD's and ship them to the store because the store is updated instantly.

Unfortunately they can't update the machines in their boxes instantly and it takes time to create a supply of laptops. If they wait till the Lion GM seed then the release will be much later than July because they would have to build up stock of the newly updated machines.

Instead they just ship them on SL with a free update to Lion the second it is released. Then once Lion ships they can change over at the factory to creating shipping units with Lion preinstalled.
