I am curious to see if there is an explicit relationship between the ratio of paging, and amount of ram in a machine. To find your percentage, go to activity monitor and get (page outs/page ins) *100

i doubt your poll will be very useful, i have a ratio of .0021 (0.21%) with over 18.5mil page ins.

I agree, as there is no relationship between page ins and page outs. Both are cumulative since the last reboot. You will always have page ins, but you may or may not have page outs. Over time, the ratio will vary widely, because they're not related in any way.

the point of the poll was to see a yes or no answer in data... it would be successful as long as a good number of people voted

since people have already told you there is no relationship, the poll is useless..

Also, that was my point, nobody is going to have a ratio above 1% so there are only going to be two options selected in your poll, what data do you expect to get from that?

The ratio of people who voted in your poll who have 4gb of ram vs 8gb? Because that's the only data you're going to receive.

i honestly just wanted to see what the numbers say (btw mine is 1.6)... if there were for example 20 people in the 4 and 8 GB categories all selecting 0-2%, that would be a successful poll (and agree with what you are saying).
