Step 1.
Jailbreak/openSSH

Vist JailbreakMe on your device and jailbreak.
Install openssh from cydia.
Go to the settings app.
Setting>WiFi
Press the blue arrow next to the network you are connected to and write down your ip address.

Step2.
Changing the password

Windows users
If your on Windows download Putty.
Open Putty and put your ip where it says host name and press open.
When you see it say login as: type "root".
When it asks for the password type "alpine".
Once you see root# type "passwd".
You'll be prompted to enter in the new password.
Then a confirm it a second time and you are good to close Putty.

Mac users
If your on a Mac you already have a built-in SSH client.
Open up Terminal and type in "ssh root@YOURIPADDRESS".
Accept any authentication requests that pop up.
When it asks for the password type "alpine"
Then type "passwd"
You'll be prompted to enter in the new password and you are good to close Terminal.

Step3.
Copying Files
You can easily copy files from the command line but the easiest way is to do it graphically with an SFTP client. On Mac, you can use CyberDuck (free). On the PC, there's winSCP (free) or my personal favorite FlashFXP (paid). They are all pretty much the same.
Just put your iPads IP for the host "root" for the username your password you set in step 2 and make sure your port is set to "22".
Now you can drag and drop files to and from your ipad.
