Who here uses a keyboard cover?

Why do you use it?

For me, I do use one. I have the IVEA Keyboard cover for my macbook pro 15" and why, I have worn out some of the keys on my keyboard.

Anyone got the same reasons?

Ordered a moshi one that should be here next week, I absolutely hate sticky/oily keys.

Tell me how that one goes. I still feel like the one IVEA one I'm using is still too obvious compare to the actual keys. I feel the rubbery texture lol. Well I'm a virgo so I'm picky :S sorry guys haha

Nice setup by the way!

How do you go about letting the heat escape? I realized my keyboard area gets really warm then I take it off for 5 to 10minutes

There isn't actually any way heat can escape from the keyboard, cover or not.
The ventilation is by the hinge, and regardless of display angle, can vent air that way.

Unless your keyguard covers the hinge area, there isn't a problem regardless of how hot your keys get.

I would say the keyboard cover was getting hot because the area near the ports on the right hand side, and the area where the vents are (directly in front of the keyboard towards the screen) are the two hottest areas on the MBP. Since the cover is plastic it will heat up quickly.

i have the moshi keyboard cover and it's pretty damn awesome.

get it from amazon.

reason why i got it:

1) after a lot of use the keys will show wear... no doubt.

2) prevent dust/crumbs/liquids getting into the keys

pretty good investment.

i was gonna get a cheap a$$ one from ebay, but glad i got the moshi because it's SUPER THIN. love it.

been using the moshi keyboard cover since march

keys look brand new day i got my 15inch macbook pro

why moshi?

transparent, backlight shines through even better with it on

thin as hell. its made of a more plastic material than plastic, so its easier to clean and thinner

rinse with soap and water and thats hows easy it is to clean

made a video on this, hope this helps...subscribe if you like? lol

Yeah, we proved this in an older thread but I don't feel like finding it now maybe tomorrow.

This shows the heat venting out the hinge, the other heat is just radiant. CPU and GPU are on the top left. Nothing vents out the keyboard.

Dog and cat hair and dust and crumbs

Dog and cat hair and dust and crumbs- I've got all those things floating onto my computer -- don't want it to get under the keys.

I use those cheap keyboard covers found on eBay. Why do I need it? Dog hair, eating near my computer and to prevent oily keys.

Used a SwitchEasy SafeKeys cover, but stopped to do so, as I simply like the pure look better. After all what's life without some risk?

Cover was cool and so, but it simply is not the same.
