Everyone thinks that that 12 with a 5 as the shadow refers to an iPhone 5 on September 12th. This could not be further from the truth. The Mid-2011 iMacs have model identifiers of 12,1 and 12,2 respectively. It stands to reason that the long gap means they will be releasing an iMac with model identifier of 12,5. A significant upgrade.

Not true. Apple doesn't historically skip model numbers just because there's a long time between updates. They're not going to jump from 12,2 to 12,5, and they don't typically use those numbers in marketing, anyway. If the 5 refers to anything, it's the iPhone 5. If they release a new iMac this year, it will likely be designated 13,1.

if 13,1 it would probably mean redesign too. I am guessing the new iMacs will be really thin just like the rMBP.
