It literally behaves like a different machine I used the 10 Core for a week and ditched it for a 12 Core model with 10 Gig Ethernet.

It simply runs different. What could it be ?

I’m not sure how two cores could make much difference, but I guess it depends on what you’re doing. Maybe 10 gig ethernet if you’re working off a network drive.

Maybe the one machine was trying to do something in the background or had some type of error. Also, it could be a placebo effect.

It’s probably the OS Core cueing code. That’s like use those beefier cores. It’s not like it’s a laptop so battery conservation isn’t an issue.

10 cores = 4P + 6E , 10 GPU cores
12 cores = 8P + 4E , 16 GPU cores
14 cores = 10P + 4E, 20 GPU cores

The difference is too big for multithread or GPU tasks.

Alex, please return with measurable results. This just reads like fomo.

Any performance differences shouldn't be a surprise. All the 10-core minis are plain M4 (4P+6E). The 12 & 14 core minis are M4 Pro (8P+4E or 10P+4E).

M4 Pro has at least twice the number of P-cores. It also has more than twice the memory bandwidth.

That’s why I got the M4 Pro it literally doubles the P Cores.

You guys act like get more cores and me a first time Mac user with the base mini: how can you be productive on this os by any means ?

Base is just fine for anyone outside of this forums probably
