Ever since Apple released the "fan fix" update for OS X, my Rev. A PowerBook's fan is almost constantly on. If I have other noise in the room like a TV show or music it's not an issue, but if the room is quiet it's really quite noisy (I've stopped taking it to any libraries for this reason).

Now, granted, it does run a lot cooler, but the fan noise is almost as annoying as the heat.

My question is: Is there a way to change the fan behavior back and forth or whichever? Maybe through the terminal?

There is a program out there called "Silent Night"...

I was never able to get it to work, and just excepted the noise. It really bugged me at first, so much so that I wiped my system clean and went back to 10.3.1. I finally wised up though. Trust me, you do get used to it after awhile. And the PB does run alot cooler now.
