What do you think would be the resale value of the base 12" in about a year?

The owners of the very first 'Air' should be able to chime in with confidence hehe...

Really depends. If apple significantly updates the Macbook 12, then there will be a greater hit on resale value.

I'd say $500-$550 be the bottom and would be the worst case scenario. Most likely will be $700-$800.

since they don't have easily replaceable batteries i wouldn't expect them to hold a very high value. and to run them plugged in will take up their only port............well you get the idea. but maybe i'm wrong.

There will be no significant update for 3 years or more based on how much they milked out of the MBA. Battery life increase by 2 hours won't significantly change the user experience. 100% CPU/GPU increase will only matter to a few as that is not the market anyhow. I just sold a 2010 MBA for $425 and expect the rMB to be similar in 5 years.

Apple does not have to update rMB for the resale to drop. Updating the Air with a retina screen or thinner profile will kill rMB resale value.
