The thick of it
Is anyone having trouble with the 12 mini's Taptic Engine? Mine worked for about a day after I got my iPhone. I thought it might have been some software setting I triggered, but no matter what settings I used, I couldn't get it to work. I called Apple's tech support and they confirmed my Taptic Engine was dead. So Apple sent me a new iPhone. I set it up today and -- no haptics at all. Either I'm doing something wrong or Apple's quality control is deficient.

My taptic is normal on the Mini (So in love with it, my first taptic enable iPhone).

Did you restore your replacement with previous settings via iCloud / iTunes / Finder?
The old problematic settings could be infecting the new unit. Try setting as new iPhone on your new unit maybe?

It might be because you restore a backup, where it is disabled.

check if system haptics is enabled everywhere in settings like sounds & haptic->system haptics , accessibility->touch->vibration etc.

If you don't manage to fix it, you may try to reset it without restoring from backup.

Thank you! I’d never seen that vibration switch. That was it. I have no idea how it got turned off. I made sure everything was on in the Sounds & Haptics section. But I never knew there was a master switch in Accessibility. Everything’s working fine now.

I wonder why the Apple tech didn’t think of that.

This may be a way to return a unit if you want to replace it for some reasons 😛
