12" PB flares with light show upon startup

I've never had a problem with my several month old 12" pb.

However, one weird thing it does is that when it starts up, there are dramatic light flashes across the screen for several long seconds before the start up screen appears.

Is this emblematic of anything? I'm worried a bit that it does run hot and probably also has the thermal paste issue.

But what would cause the light storm on start up?

I'd imagine an ailing video chip could be responsible. If you have TechTool, run a diagnostic, if not, use the Apple Hardware Test on your restore disc.
