Ordered my 12"PB on Tuesday, wondering:

Is there 1 expansion RAM slot?

Everywhere I read says use pc2100 ram, but OWC sells the PC2700 and says it is for the 12" PB 1ghz.

will this run in the 12" and provide performance to make it worth it?

thanks!

Faster Ram does nothing to hurt your computer. Granted, it won't make it faster, but it won't make it slower. It will just cost more. And yes, there is only 1 expansion slot.

ram expansion

talked to apple tech yesterday and they said it's one expansion slot for the 12".
comes with 256 built in.

that's what they said...

apparently, for the older 12" pbs, you could somehow add more than total of 640mb... someone in here must know.

good luck

the only way to get more than 640 in the 1st 12" would be to buy 1 1gigabyte ram chip. That's it. The 128 mb is smoldered in there, so not much doing...

you should definitely go w/ a brand name for your ram, but avoid buying ram directly from apple. they hike up the prices a lot on the ram if you order it from them.

i just purchased a 512 MB stick from crucial, for a 'decent' price IMO. i'd rather pay a little more for quality!

i've had good experiences with kingston ram too.
